Goddess Durga The Most Powerful Deity

1. Goddess Durga also called Ambe Maa (mother), Goddess Ambika and Goddess Parvati is the Supreme Goddess of Hinduism and popularly worshipped as Mother.

2. The Rig Veda written around 1500 BCE has the hymns dedicated to the Goddess. Markandeya Purana has Devi Mahatmya which emphasizes the deity as the primordial creator of the Universe.

3. The Goddess is called so because the deity is 'Invincible' , 'Unassailable'. The Goddess has killed more than hundreds of millions of demons and protects devotees as a mother including Mahishasura, Raktabeeja, Durgamasura.

4.The devotees of the Goddess are blessed with tranquility, protection, strength, prosperity and salvation.

5. The festival celebrating the revered Goddess is Durga Puja or Navratri according to different customs and rituals of worshipping the deity. This festival is celebrated in the month of ' 'Sharada' usually falling around mid September to mid November.
